Rob van Eekeren,Founder safe runway GmbH

 

Rob graduated in aviation science at the Royal Netherlands Defence Academy. He became a fighter-, instructor pilot and staff officer. He joined Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as inspector and duty airport manager. Missing flying he joined KLM, flying B747, B737 and A330 as airline captain.

In addition was he director of safety, security and accident analysis of the VNV and chairman of the Dutch national transport and environment committee of the VVD.In 2018 was Rob awarded “ Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau” (knighthood).

Rob has been involved in all that is related to safe runway operations, including wildlife hazard management, runway incursions and excursions. He is an international recognized specialist on runway safety, facilitates trainings and was part of international teams developing policies on runway safety. Rob is an accredited provisional lead auditor, instructor and trainer as well as aviation expert for the European Commission.

His background and experience offers the unique opportunity to specialize in the interface between airport, air traffic control and airline operations. With complex interface issues is it essential that parties work together assuring an acceptable level of safety. These are runway safety and wild life strikes. Rob was for 6 years the elected chairman of the board and executive director of the World Birdstrike Association next his runway safety consultancy.
